I am super frustrated right now.  Mostly because I feel like the American government is failing us as a system.  This past week a couple who are friends with my husband and I recently bought a 2010 Kia Rio.  Now this shouldn't seem upsetting to me should it?  Shouldn't I be ecstatic and happy for them especially since it has FOUR doors so that they can get their child into the car easier?  Well no it does not make me happy because this family is on government assistance/food stamps.  Essentially my husband and I are paying taxes so that they can buy their brand new vehicle.  I want to scream from the rooftop that this is so unfair.  My husband and I bring in around close to sixty thousand dollars a year and we are barely scraping by.  We are not rolling in the dough and we don't have elaborate vehicles.  In fact my husband's vehicle is a 1989 Ford Escort.  We own our own home and don't have that much debt.  Both my husband and I finished bachelor degrees and have earned every little red cent of ours yet these people barely have high school educations.  We sacrificed and scrimped to go to school and they don't even care for it.  They also own their own home and are very much on the same level as we are on but yet they can afford a brand new car.  We can't afford one so shouldn't they not be able to afford one either?  Why don't they take that money and use it on food so that they aren't using my hard earned money to buy a new vehicle.  SCREAM!!!  I just feel so used because we got back nothing from taxes because we are in a higher tax bracket.  We have other friends who are on government assistance/food stamps who are getting ten grand back for this past fiscal year.  We had a kid this year and they are not cheap.  We are getting nothing back to help us offset the cost of her expenses.  Everyone told us that once we had kids we would be getting tax breaks left and right well let me tell you there are none for the middle class.  My husband and I are just getting started in our lives together and it is super frustrating to see little from the fruits of our labors while others who haven't learned sacrifice get everything.  (Don't get me started on a lot of the refugees I know that are buying ten grand watches!) America you need to get it together and give back to the middle class and not to the unworthy.

DISCLAIMER: I do not believe that everyone is using the system.  I am grateful that the system is in place so that people who REALLY need it can be helped.  I just want there to be more and better guidelines for those who qualify.
